Two carbon fibre filaments, priced per gram
No sales call, no request-a-quote form — our engineering-material pricing is on the page: material is charged by the gram, machine time at £2 per hour, plus £2.50 handling per item and £0.45 per order. If the geometry needs supports, those are priced in automatically. The quote page does the arithmetic the moment your file lands, and the price it shows is locked in at checkout.
- PETG-CF — £0.18/g. Carbon-fibre reinforced PETG: stiff, dimensionally stable and finished in matte. The sensible first choice for jigs, fixtures and brackets.
- PA12-CF — £0.38/g. Carbon-fibre nylon 12: outstanding wear and impact resistance with very low moisture absorption, for end-use parts that take vibration and repeated load.
- Both come in 2 colours each — these are engineering filaments, not decorative ones.
- Layer heights from 0.12 mm Fine to 0.24 mm Draft, and infill anywhere from 1% to 100% — the price updates as you adjust.
Chopped carbon fibre, not continuous — and what that actually means
We'll be honest: carbon fibre 3D printing on an FDM printer means short chopped strands of carbon mixed through the base polymer, not the woven continuous-fibre laminate you'd find in a machined carbon plate. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.
What the chopped fibre genuinely does: it makes the printed part much stiffer than the unfilled polymer, so it holds its shape under load instead of flexing — and on PETG-CF you get dimensional stability and a matte surface that hides layer lines too.
What it doesn't do: it is not a substitute for machined carbon fibre laminate, and we don't print continuous fibre. If your part needs laminate-level performance or a certified aerospace material, an FDM print isn't the right tool — and we'd rather tell you that now than after you've paid.
What engineers actually print in it
Carbon fibre filaments earn their price on parts that work for a living:
- Jigs, fixtures and workholding — PETG-CF's dimensional stability means a datum stays where you put it.
- Brackets and mounts that must not flex under load.
- Drone frames, arms and camera rigs, where stiffness matters more than anything.
- Tooling — drill guides, alignment tools and assembly aids that see daily use.
- PA12-CF for parts that take punishment — its wear and impact resistance suits bushings, threaded fittings and housings that see vibration, where PLA is a non-starter.
Parts print up to 325 × 320 × 325 mm in a single piece, and there's no minimum order quantity — one bracket is fine (minimum item price £4.50). Need a batch of fixtures? Extra copies of the same part are discounted automatically: 5% off extras at 5+, 10% at 10+, 15% at 25+ and 20% at 50+.
When plain polymers are the smarter buy
Carbon fibre is not always the answer — and we'd rather say so than sell you £0.38/g material for a £0.07/g job. Plain PETG is strong, slightly flexible and weather resistant, and at well under half the price of PETG-CF it's often the better pick when a part needs to absorb knocks rather than refuse to bend.
If heat is the main enemy, polycarbonate at £0.17/g is very strong, stiff and heat resistant to around 110°C — sometimes it does the job PA12-CF would, at half the per-gram price.

Your questions, answered
Is carbon fibre 3D printing as strong as real carbon fibre?
No — and it's worth being clear about. Our PETG-CF, PA12-CF and PA6-CF are chopped-fibre filaments: short carbon strands mixed through the polymer. They're much stiffer than the unfilled plastics, but they're not continuous woven fibre, so they won't match a machined carbon laminate. For jigs, brackets, drone arms and end-use printed parts they're excellent; as a laminate substitute, they're the wrong tool.
Should I pick PETG-CF, PA12-CF or PA6-CF?
It depends what the part does. PETG-CF (£0.18/g) covers most jobs: stiff, dimensionally stable, matte finish — ideal for workholding and one-off tooling. PA12-CF (£0.38/g) adds wear and impact resistance and holds tolerance in damp air, so it's the one for end-use parts that take daily abuse. PA6-CF (£0.35/g) is the stiffest and the best with sustained heat — choose it when the part works near a motor or runs hot.
